OUR MISSION

The mission of The Institute for Family and Child Well-Being is to promote the well-being of African American children and families. We do this by: a) making accessible culturally meaningful information about the historical and contemporary experiences of African American children and families, with a focus on our involvement with this nation's child and family-serving systems; and b) assisting professionals and organizations involved in providing direct services and/or administering programs which support the healing and development of African American children and families.  In doing this work we seek to improve the capacity of African American communities to protect, heal and ensure the optimal development of our children and families.

Much of the Institute's work is designed to support this online resource repository.  This website is managed by
Oronde A. Miller, the Institute's Founder and Executive director, with the guidance and support of the Institute's National Advisory Council.
